What does AB Innovation Lab offer?

Why AB Innovation Lab?

AB Innovation Lab is the first official chapter of Turtleboat. Our mission is to create an accessible platform to train individuals who have innovative ideas and help them become entrepreneurs and change-makers within our community.  We have partnered with the Turtleboat [by Ycities Beta] platform to offer:

  • Training and support to transform ideas into tangible products, ready to be launched
  • Access to mentors and industry specialists from a variety of verticals
  • Guidance and access to present to angel investors and venture capitalists (for late-stage projects)

The Turtleboat Partnership

Turtleboat was born out of yCITIES, a nonprofit founded by Vicky Wu Davis in 2008 to inspire young people through entrepreneurship and innovation. After a health scare in 2013, Vicky’s community rallied to imagine tools that could capture her vision and amplify it. The idea of Turtleboat first emerged as a way to support students and mentors, and over the years, it has evolved with each new generation of innovators. The platform was redesigned to connect people virtually and reach a larger audience. Today, Turtleboat continues to grow, and its mission remains the same: empowering changemakers through creativity, collaboration, and community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at abturtleboatchapter@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

ABIL is a student-driven innovation program that empowers young people to design, build, and launch real solutions to real-world problems. Our mission is to create a space where creativity, community impact, and hands-on learning come together.

Any middle or high school student (6th-12th grade) can join by signing up through our membership form. Once you’re a member, you’ll receive access to events, challenges, and project opportunities.

ABIL hosts small design challenges and educational programs that teach students about entrepreneurship and how it can be applied in everyday life. Participants may work individually or in teams to develop solutions across STEM, design, and entrepreneurship through short sprints or multi-week projects.

No! You don’t need any prior experience in entrepreneurship, design, or technology to join AB Innovation Lab. ABIL is designed for beginners and advanced students alike.

Students build real-world skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and design while creating projects they can showcase in portfolios or competitions. Many participants leave with stronger confidence, new peers, and a clearer sense of their interests.
